Hope Out Loud began in 2002 in response to the events of “9/11” with a commitment to peace and social justice. The Hope Out Loud events are intended to provide inspiration for renewal and recommitment.
On Sunday, September 11th from 1pm to 5pm the Church of the Good Shepherd will host Hope Out Loud 10, a peace and arts festival.
At 2:30pm, Carl Pope Jr.’s sculpture, “Silent Wishes, Unconscious Dreams & Prayers…Fulfilled: will be dedicated at its new home on the Church’s great lawn. “Silent Wishes” as it is called, consists of 17 brownstone slabs, each engraved with quotations from Hartford youth who died as a result of donestic or gang violence, drugs or AIDs. The sculpture is intended to help heal the community’s pains from urban violence and, perhaps, prevent future premature deaths of the City’s youth.
Pack a picnic lunch, a blanket and some chairs, and enjoy an inspiring afternoon of music, poetry, kids activities and fun for everyone on the Church of the Good Shepherd’s great lawn at 155 Wyllys Street.
