Celebrating 2012 Memorial Day In Greater Hartford

In the United States of America we enjoy a freedom many residents of other countries do not enjoy. Over the last 236 years, many father’s, mother’s, brothers, sister’s, husbands, wives, friends, and coworkers have made – the ultimate sacrifice – protecting our freedom. Memorial Day is the day we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms of this great nation.

Below is a list of parades and activities in the Greater Hartford Area.

Avon – The parade will be lead by the Governor’s Horse Guard on Monday, May 28th and will begin at 11AM at the Towpath Annex on Simsbury Road.

Berlin – The parade will be held on Monday, May 28th at 9AM starting at St. Paul’s parking lot.

Canton – The parade will be begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM starting at the Canton Intermediate School.

Cromwell – The parade will begin on Wednesday, May 30th at 6pm at the corner of Main and West Streets.

East Granby– The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM at Elmwood Cemetary.

East Hartford – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10:30 at Long Hill

Farmington – There will be two parades on Monday, May 28th in Farmington; one in the Unionville section of Farmington starting at 8:30AM at 15 School St, and the other starting at 10:30AM at

Glastonbury – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 9AM at Main & Welles St.

Granby – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM at Geissler’s on Rt. 20

Manchester – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th from the Army & Navy Club on Main St.

New Britain – The parade will begin on Wedensday, May 30th at 6PM at the top of Broad and Burritt Streets

Newington – the parade will begin on Saturday, May 26th at 10:30 at East Robbins and Main St.

Rocky Hill – The parade will begin at Rocky Hill High School, 50 Chapin Ave, at 9:30AM on Monday May 28, 2012.

Simsbury – There will be two parades in Simsbury on Monday, May 28th; one in the Tariffville section of Simsbury starting at 9AM at the foot of Winthrop Street. and the second in downtown Simsbury at 1:30PM starting at Owens Brook Boulevard and Hop Meadow St.

South Windsor – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM on Connecticut Ave. Float decoration starts at 9AM.

Vernon – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM on Kingsbury Ave.

West Hartford – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10AM at the corner of Farmington Ave and Woodrow St.

Wethersfield – The parade will be held on May 26th in Old Wethersfield starting at 9AM on State St.

Windsor – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 9AM at the corners of Pleasant and East Streets.

Windsor Locks – The parade will begin on Monday, May 28th at 10:30 at the intersection of West and Spring Streets

If you are out and about this holiday weekend, stop and watch one of the parades and say thank you to the veterans who march in honor of those who protected our freedoms.
