Pipes In The Valley

If you enjoy celtic music, good food and fine beer then don’t miss Pipes in the Valley on Saturday, September 24th at Riverfront Recapture (behind the Connecticut Science Center) in Hartford CT.

The festival kicks off with a parade of bagpipe bands jamming crossing the Founders Bridge as they march from East Hartford to Hartford. Spectators, band members, and vendors alike darn their kilts and family colors. At this festival, “skirts” are”in” for men, women, and children! If you don’t know your family colors or tartan, there are vendors who can help.

There are two stages for musical entertainment. And this year’s bands are great! On the main stage, my favs, Red Hot Chilli Pipers are back! Also playing on the main stage are the Black 47,  the Screaming Orphans, and Barley Juice. On the upper stage, listen to Jolly Beggars, Songs for Ceilidh, or one of the local bagpipe bands, while you enjoy a pint.

The festival includes more than music! Enjoy Celtic and Highland dancers. Checkout the Celtic crafters; there’s something for everyone. Watch the fascinating Highland Games. Feast on authentic Irish and Scottish fare. And, to quench your thirst, try one of many beers, ales or whiskey! Water and soda are also available.
